An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and passionate Procurement Specialist who will be responsible for managing the day to day Procurement tasks for Australia and New Zealand across all divisions.

The main aspects of this role include:

  • Provide support in the commercial relationships for assigned indirect categories, including sourcing, contract management and vendor management
  • Support Procurement manager in tenders and contract documentation, support and negotiate price, terms and conditions with appropriate vendors
  • Proactively seek opportunities for cost savings and process improvements
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Provide support in engagement of key internal stakeholders in determining expectations
  • Execute a vendor management process for identified critical suppliers
  • Provide assistance to internal customers in relation to supplier and contract management. As required, act as point of escalation between the supplier and internal customer
  • Implement procurement process in accordance with procurement manager's direction, systems and procedures to deliver departmental efficiencies enabling better service to the business whilst remaining compliant with Corporate Purchasing and Financial Policy
  • Active involvement and preparation for and involvement in Abbott's biannual internal audit
  • Ensure the department is performing the day to day activities and that service delivery to the business is maintained
  • Ensure effective management of site facilities and that all facility activities comply with local and international requirements; and legal and ethical standards
  • Manage the purchase order approval as per policies

In addition to the above, the relevant experience in required: 

  • Experience in negotiation skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent English – oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated strong organisational skills
  • Proven ability to manage and build relationships with key stakeholders to achieve objectives and targets
  • Ability to function autonomously whilst being part of a team

Knowledge/Education required:

  • University degree in Business or equivalent proven experience
  • Purchasing qualification or experience
  • Understanding of contract terms and conditions
  • Must understand procurement processes – strategic sourcing, contract and vendor management
  • 5 years' experience in Procurement within a large organisation
