JOB DESCRIPTION:

Primary Function / Primary Goals / Objectives:

The goal within the maintenance department is to maintain the electrical and mechanical systems of the plant and associated equipment in a safe and reliable manner.  All aspects of this work must comply with all applicable Federal, State, and Corporate policies and procedures. 

The function of the maintenance department is to provide exceptional customer service to processing, filling, packaging, warehousing, CDC, and all support areas within the facility.  This is accomplished through preventative and predictive maintenance, calibrations, certifications, troubleshooting, repair, and upgrading of the previously mentioned areas.  This is executed in a manor to ensure the plant to conduct business safety, economically, and efficiently.  In addition, the maintenance department personnel will serve as a technical resource for the plant, division manufacturing, and the engineering groups.  

Tasks may require individuals to work any shift, in any department, weekends, holidays, and overtime to support production and general plant needs.  Some training may require overtime and outside travel.

Major Responsibilities:

Responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system.

Mechanical:  A Class III Multi-craft Technician must be able to perform the following on a minimum of five of the following areas: Eagle, Topaz, Aseptic, Hassia, processing, instruments, warehouse, labs, and the CDC.  Work in a safe, efficient, and economical manor.  Maintain training expectations and all required aspects of this position.

General (Plant wide):  The safe, efficient, and economical use of hand tools, power tools, shop equipment (Lathe, Mill, saws, grinders, sheer, brake, press, iron worker, and media blasting equipment), welders (TIG, MIG, and arc), rebuild gearboxes and reducers, ability to run pipe and conduit, fabrication of parts and guards, ability to replace chains, sprockets, guides, bearings and all other equipment as needed.  Familiarity with proper PM, inspection, and safety procedures.

Fillers (Aseptic/Topaz/ Eagle/Hassia):  Successfully perform all PM’s, Certifications, and Calibrations on the fillers and ancillary equipment.  Perform all necessary repairs, adjustments, Set-up, and rebuilds.

Cappers/Sealers (Aseptic/Topaz/ Eagle/Hassia):  Successfully perform all PM’s, Certifications, and Calibrations on the primary equipment and ancillary equipment.  Perform all necessary adjustments, Set-up, and rebuilds.

Labelers/Sleevers (Aseptic/Topaz/ Eagle):  Successfully perform all PM’s, Certifications, and Calibrations on the primary equipment and ancillary equipment.  Perform all necessary adjustments, Set-up, and rebuilds.

Coders, taptones, vision systems and weight checking systems (Aseptic/Topaz/ Eagle/Hassia):  Successfully perform all PM’s, Certifications, and Calibrations on the fillers and ancillary equipment.  Perform all necessary adjustments, Set-up, and rebuilds.

Packaging equipment (Aseptic/Topaz/ Eagle/Hassia):  Successfully perform all PM’s, Certifications, and Calibrations on the primary equipment and ancillary equipment.  Perform all necessary adjustments, Set-up, and rebuilds.

Palletizers (Aseptic/Topaz/ Eagle/Hassia):  Successfully perform all PM’s, Certifications, and Calibrations on the primary equipment and ancillary equipment.  Perform all necessary adjustments, Set-up, and rebuilds.

Conveying Systems (Aseptic/Topaz/ Eagle/Hassia/Mono-rail):  Successfully perform all PM’s, Certifications, and Calibrations on the primary equipment and ancillary equipment.  Perform all necessary adjustments, Set-up, and rebuilds.

Education:

High School Diploma or GED and a two year mechanical/electrical technical degree or equivalent experience.

Background:

Knowledge of applicable regulatory standards and requirements for infant formula and nutritionals.

Including, but not limited to: Proven experience in mechanical and electrical repair of high-speed filling and packaging equipment.   

Troubleshooting and repair of plant utilities, welding, machining, gearbox, pump repair, wiring drives, PLCs, hydraulics, pneumatics, and steam. 

Must have the ability to read and interpret schematics and blueprints.

Background in calibrations and certifications of critical precision and sensitive equipment.

Accountability / Scope/Budget:

This position is accountable for maintaining all assigned hand tools, equipment, Power tools, and shop equipment.

This position is accountable for maintaining all plant systems and machines, failure to maintain will result in unnecessary downtime, replacement, or repair.
