The Hiring Process

Application

Find the position you are interested in on our career site and click “Apply Now.” You’ll be prompted to upload your resume/CV and complete details about your previous experience, application questions, and voluntary disclosures.

This process takes around 5-20 minutes. Once submitted, you’ll receive a confirmation email. If you don’t have a Workday account, the email will prompt you to set one up so you can keep track of your application through the selection process.

You can check your application status anytime by logging into your Workday account under “My Applications.”

Please note: Due to high application volume, we cannot provide individual feedback. If you’re not moving forward, you’ll receive an automated email.

Initial Recruiter Evaluation

If your application aligns with the role, a recruiter will reach out to schedule an initial phone or virtual conversation. These conversations typically last approximately 15–45 minutes, depending on the role, region, and hiring process. For some roles we hire very frequently, an on-demand video interview may be used as the first screening step.

This conversation helps us learn more about your background and skills, and it’s also your opportunity to ask questions about Abbott, the role, and the team.

If there’s mutual interest following this conversation, your information will be shared with the hiring manager for review.

Interview

If you move forward, you'll be invited to participate in interviews with members of the hiring team.

Interview formats and duration vary depending on the role you applied for and may include one or more interviews conducted virtually or in person. While we aim to keep interview panels focused, some niche or specialized roles may involve additional interviewers.

For certain roles, interviews may also include role-specific assessments, such as case discussions, presentations, or skills-based exercises, to help both you and Abbott better understand fit and expectations.

Your recruiter will share details in advance so you know what to expect. Check out our interviewing tips to help you prepare for this important step:

After your interviews, the hiring team will meet to make a final decision. Your recruiter will keep you updated and reach out once a decision is made. We aim to move quickly, but timing can vary based on the number of candidates and team availability. If you have questions during this stage, your recruiter is your main point of contact.

Offer

If you’re selected, your recruiter will extend a verbal offer and follow up with a formal offer letter and/or employment contract, where applicable, based on local country requirements. Please review and sign by the date outlined in the letter.

Pre-Employment Verification

Once you've accepted your offer or signed your contract, you may be asked to complete pre-employment verification, where applicable. Requirements and processes vary by country and role, and this step is not required everywhere.

After successful completion (where applicable), next steps will be shared with you.

Onboarding

As you prepare to join Abbott, you'll receive information to help you get ready for your first day. Depending on the role and location, this information may come from your hiring manager, recruiter, or a centralized onboarding or Center of Excellence (COE) team.

Details may vary, but we'll make sure you know what to expect as you begin your journey with Abbott.
